Our present 16 week course ‘Ways of Seeing’ is coming to an end. Starting from close observation and recording of objects and investigating ...
Studio Arts Liverpool has been running with great success since Spring 2015 and offers Art Classes to all levels of ability. The atmosphere is friendly and professional and we encourage all students to develop their skills so that they have the confidence and ability to create their own independent artwork. To this end we teach and reinforce basic skills in drawing and painting whilst also encouraging an imaginative response to their own ideas.
We offer three classes each week and 2 courses each year of 12 & 16 weeks respectively. Students choose to attend for two or three hours each class. Details of times and prices are outlined below.
It is organised and taught by Frank Linnett & Mary Freeney both of whom are now retired Art Teachers having run a very successful Art Department for over twenty years in a Liverpool secondary school.
Frank is also a very successful artist who has exhibited both nationally & internationally. His work can be seen on Dot-art.
We are able to offer Drawing, Painting & Printmaking to all levels of ability.
Our classes are held at The Bridewell Studios in Prescot Street Liverpool.
Both daytime & evening classes are on offer. Tuesday 12 - 3pm and Thursday 12 - 3pm & 6 - 9pm. We charge £5 an hr if paying in advance of the entire course. If space allows, any classes lost through absence can be made up by swapping days as long as it is within the timeframe of the course.
Courses are organised with a particular theme which is published in advance to allow for some personal research. This enables our students to explore ideas and develop their own unique piece of artwork.
During the initial weeks of each course classes start with a taught session of drawing / reinforcement of a particular technique.
Beginners are actively encouraged whilst those with more experience may wish to embark on their own work with a greater degree of independence, either way guidance and tuition is given.
During these early weeks we support students in developing their own response to the theme set and students then continue with the development of their own work.
The recent acquisition of a printing press has extended our teaching to include Collagraphs and drypoint Etching.
At the end of each course students exhibit their work in the Bridewell Studios Gallery. To date we have had extremely successful exhibitions where every student exhibits their work and a number of our students have also sold paintings.
We have an opening night with refreshments and you are encouraged to invite friends and family which makes for a very sociable evening.
